Terms of Service

The rules for using TapTime, written as plainly as we can manage. By booking or hosting a session, you agree to these.

Welcome to TapTime. These Terms of Service govern your use of the platform. By booking a session, hosting a session, or creating an account, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use TapTime.

1. Who we are

TapTime is operated by The Big Red, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. When we say "we", "us", or "TapTime", we mean that entity. When we say "you", we mean the person accessing the platform, whether as a client booking sessions or as an expert hosting them.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create a TapTime account. Signups from users who self-identify as younger than 13 are rejected at registration.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know at support@taptime.ai if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. The service

TapTime is an online marketplace where clients book one-on-one video consultations with independent experts. We provide the platform, the scheduling, the payment flow, the video room, and the AI-generated session summary described in Section 6. We are not a party to the professional advice given inside a session, we do not vet the accuracy of that advice, and we are not liable for outcomes that depend on it.

Experts are independent contractors, not employees of TapTime. They set their own rates, availability, and topic scope.

4. Payments, fees and payouts

All session payments are processed by Stripe on behalf of TapTime. By booking a session, you authorize Stripe to charge the payment method you provide. Stripe holds the relevant payment credentials; TapTime never stores full card numbers.

TapTime takes a 20% platform fee on every completed session. The remaining 80% is paid out to the expert after the session is marked complete. Taxes (if any) are disclosed at checkout.

Session fees are charged at the time of booking confirmation. If payment fails, the booking is not confirmed. You may also apply TapTime credit (from a previous cancellation or refund) at checkout; if credit covers the full price, no card charge is made.

4.1 Currency and tax

Prices shown on TapTime are in the currency indicated at checkout. You are responsible for any taxes that apply in your jurisdiction.

5. Cancellations, reschedules and refunds

TapTime applies a tiered cancellation policy. The tier is decided by how far ahead of the session the cancellation happens, not by which side cancels.

5.1 Client cancellations

  • 48 hours or more before the session: you receive 100% of the session price back as TapTime credit. The expert is not paid.
  • 12 to 48 hours before the session: you receive 50% of the session price back as TapTime credit. The expert is paid 50% of their usual payout. TapTime collects 50% of its usual fee.
  • Less than 12 hours before the session: no credit is issued. The expert receives their full payout. TapTime collects its full fee.

Client cancellations are refunded in TapTime credit, not in cash. Credit applies automatically to future bookings at checkout.

5.2 Expert cancellations

If the expert cancels for any reason, you choose one of: reschedule to a new time, receive 100% TapTime credit, or receive a full cash refund to your original payment method. On a cash refund, the expert absorbs the Stripe processing fee out of their next payout. Expert cancellations are not penalized by timing tier.

5.3 Reschedules

You may reschedule a session once per booking. Reschedules must happen at least 48 hours before the original session. After a reschedule, the standard cancellation policy in 5.1 applies to the new time.

5.4 No-shows

If a client does not join the session within a reasonable window after the start time, the session is treated as a less-than-12-hour cancellation by the client. No refund or credit is issued.

If the expert does not join, Section 5.2 applies.

6. AI-generated session summaries

As a core part of the TapTime consultation experience, we automatically transcribe and summarize each session and email the resulting summary to both the client and the expert.

6.1 How it works

Your device records audio locally while the call is in progress. After the session ends, we transcribe that audio using OpenAI's Whisper API, then generate a structured summary (key topics, action items, sentiment indicator) using OpenAI's GPT-4o model. Both participants receive the summary by email, typically within a few minutes of the session ending. Detailed sub-processor and retention information is in our Privacy Policy.

6.2 AI-generated content

Summaries are produced by automated systems and may contain errors, misinterpretations, or omissions. Every summary is clearly labeled as AI-generated and includes a disclaimer. The summary is for convenience only. It does not replace your own notes, your expert's professional advice, or the actual content of the session. Do not rely on a summary as the sole record of medical, legal, financial, or other professional guidance.

6.3 Opt-out

AI summaries are on by default. You can turn them off at any time under Account Settings -> Preferences -> AI Summary. When disabled, we will not transcribe your audio, generate a summary, or email one. Changes apply to future sessions only.

6.4 Minors

AI summaries are not available for users under the age of 18, regardless of the opt-in setting. If our records indicate you are under 18, audio from your sessions will not be transcribed and no summary will be generated or delivered.

6.5 Service availability

We may temporarily disable AI summaries for all users during a service incident, regulatory requirement, or sub-processor outage. Temporary unavailability does not constitute a breach of these Terms.

6.6 Liability

TapTime is not liable for any decision, action, or outcome resulting from reliance on an AI-generated summary. Summaries are informational only.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use TapTime to: violate any law, harass or endanger another user, infringe anyone's intellectual property, transmit malware, scrape the platform, attempt to impersonate another person, or circumvent the platform's payment or identity systems. We may suspend or close an account that we reasonably believe has broken these rules.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of anything you post on TapTime (profile information, reviews, session content). You grant us a limited, worldwide license to host, display, transmit and transcribe that content only as needed to provide the platform and the AI summary described in Section 6.

9. Third-party services

TapTime uses third-party services to operate the platform, including Stripe (payments), OpenAI (AI processing), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (hosting and audio storage), Twilio SendGrid (transactional email), and Google / Microsoft / LinkedIn (optional single sign-on). 10. Warranty and liability

TapTime is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any session outcome will meet your expectations. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms is limited to the total amount you paid TapTime for the session or sessions the claim relates to.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be excluded (including gross negligence, fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence).

11. Changes

We may update these Terms as the platform changes. If a change materially affects you, we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date on this page. Continued use of TapTime after the effective date of a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any dispute you cannot resolve with us directly will be settled by the courts of Dubai, UAE.
